PhD student in Applied Physics with a focus on conductive binders for energy-storage devicesNorrköpingReferensnummer LiU-2024-05104Join a cutting-edge project to develop fluorine-free conductive polymers for high-performance lithium-ion batteries. You’ll synthesize polymers, study their properties, and apply them as electroactive films in batteries, contributing to the optimization of energy storage materials. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with experts in chemistry, physics, and engineering. This position is part of the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE), Sweden’s largest investment in materials science for a sustainable future.Your work assignmentsThe main focus of your research is to develop fluorine-free conductive polymer binders for high-performance lithium-ion batteries. By exploring the chemical, physical, and electronic structures of conductive polymers and how these properties affect stability and conductivity, you will contribute to optimizing the design of materials and doping processes for energy storage applications. You will 1) synthesize conductive polymers, 2) investigate their electrical, optical, and mechanical characteristics, and 3) implement them as electroactive thin films in Li-ion batteries. You will work in a multidisciplinary research group comprising chemists, physicists, material scientists, and electrical engineers. As a doctoral student, you will devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.This recruitment is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org).
