We look forward to receiving your application!We are looking for a PhD student in Medical Science.Your work assignmentsThe candidate will be part of a research program that integrates experimental mouse models, patient material, and cutting-edge technologies to study how the immune system can be harnessed to develop cancer immunotherapies. The successful candidate will study the role of dendritic cells in oncolytic virus-based immunotherapy and the mechanisms that drive dysfunctional dendritic cells and T cells, and resistance to immunotherapy. The project will use methods such as spectral flow cytometry, confocal imaging, and single-cell RNA-sequencing and functional ex vivo assays.As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20 per cent of full-time.Your qualificationsWe are looking for you who have a master’s degree in biomedicine or equivalent. You should have experience with Biosafety Level 2 work. The job requires practical experience and certification for work with laboratory animals (rodents/mice) approved in Sweden.The following techniques and methods are a requirement for the position:

  • Mammalian cell culture, both primary cells and cell lines
  • Hands-on experience with oncolytic viruses, including virus work in cancer mouse models
  • Immunological methods including spectral flow cytometry and FACS sorting
  • Molecular biology techniques such as PCR/RT-qPCR and western blot

It is advantageous if you have experience working in the field of tumor immunology and experience working with lymphoma mouse models.The position requires excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. It is advantageous if you speak Swedish.As a person, you are structured and initiative-taking. The research group studies the role of the immune system in the development of cancer, with particular focus on lymphomas, and how this knowledge can be harnessed to develop cancer immunotherapies.(BKV) is one of the university’s largest departments with affiliation mainly within the Faculty of Medicine. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with a high international quality. At BKV you will find leading research in a large spectrum of modern biomedicine, from detailed molecular and cellular studies to genetics, clinical research and epidemiology.The employmentIn connection with your admission to the doctoral program, your employment as a PhD student is handled. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available atThe employment has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration of two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. The employment may be extended to a maximum of five years, based on the amount of teaching and departmental duties you have carried out.
