It is not for a specific or permanent position within the Norwegian Red Cross.The Norwegian Red Cross maintains a roster of trained specialists (delegates) ready to be deployed with standardized equipment on a short notice in response to international emergencies such as natural disasters, conflicts, heath emergencies or climate-related emergencies. Delegates work closely with the local Red Cross-National Society to provide specific services where local infrastructure is damaged, temporarily out of service, out of reach or insufficient to cope with the needs.Most of the delegates have a full-time job with permission from their employer to take leave of absence without pay if it is requested by NoRC to go on mission. The expected length of availability for a mission is minimum 6 weeks and the delegate are on contract with Norwegian Red Cross and receives salary while on mission, in addition to the other compensations, if applicable.Clinical Emergency Response Unit
NoRC has specialized in ERUs offering immediate medical assistance, health services and public health, as well as psychosocial support and water and sanitation services.NoRC deploys ERUs together with IFRC/ICRC in operations for four months or more to prevent, detect and respond to health needs in emergencies and areas of conflict. Deployable health capacities can support inter-agency health coordination, overall strategic direction for health, implementation of community- and clinic-based health interventions, and provide critical lifesaving services to communities, in support of government health systems and services.The Physiotherapist will be responsble for:

A. To be accepted onto NoRC’s ERU roster, you must complete our recruitment process (application, interview, reference checks), complete 24 hours of online training and attend the following trainings:
IMPACT (International Mobilization and Preparation for ACTion): The course lasts one week and aims to prepare delegates for international field work with the Red Cross through theory and practical activities.
Hospital Training: The training simulates an emergency response operation with deployments of an Emergency Hospital providing services in accordance with WHO EMT type 2 and public heath teams working together with other sectors such as WASH in a scenario-based training. The training lasts for a week. This is a pass/non-pass training, and delegates will be evaluated by experienced aid workers.
Profile Specific trainings:For some delegate profiles, there are additional or other profile specific trainings.
Once you have completed the necessary training and courses, you will be included in the ER roster and may be contacted by NoRC when there is a deployment request. Please note that participation in these trainings will not be compensated.B. Kindly note that all prospective delegates must be available for at least one deployment per year. Therefore, it is essential to plan and assess work commitments in advance, including obtaining any necessary approvals from current employers before applying.
