Job Category: VIP BJob Description:The advertised position is within an ongoing post doc project related to the research project HyProFuel, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark.The project deals with the development of catalysts and processes for upgrading biomass fast pyrolysis oil to a higher quality fuel that can be used for e.g. ships and ultimately for aviation and land transport. The project is conducted in close collaboration with the company Topsoe as well as other universities and companies. You will be based at DTU Chemical Engineering, at the CHEC research group in a dynamic international research environment.Responsibilities and qualifications
The aim of the post doc position is to participate in the development of processes for the catalytic upgrading of biomass fast pyrolysis oil by hydrotreating.The position will involve the following tasks:
- Supervision of BSc/MSc and PhD students related to the project.
- Performing catalytic tests on upgrading pyrolysis oil and pyrolysis oil model compounds using an advanced continuous trickle bed reactor setup as well as supporting experiments on and advanced continuous slurry reactor setup.
- Characterization of gas phase and liquid phase products using a range of characterization methods such as gas chromatography, Karl-Fischer (for water), titration methods for TAN/CAN, elemental analysis etc.
- Synthesis and characterization of catalysts.
- Writing of scientific papers and attending conferences.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). The candidate must have documented experience in the areas mentioned above. The candidate must be self-paced, highly ambitious and with very good skills to collaborate with our technicians, PhD students and MSc/BSc/BEng students associated to the project as well as the project partners from Topsoe.We offer
