The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in global change and ecosystem sustainability, starting 01-10-2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 2-year period. This position will be located at the Pioneer Center Land-CRAFT, which was established in June 2022 to undertake fundamental and applied research that addresses these issues. The center brings together experts on climate impact research and process-based modelling of biogeochemistry, agronomy, biology and geography from Aarhus University and University of Copenhagen, as well as international partners. Field experiments, digital technologies — including modelling and remote sensing, as well as interactions with stakeholders are key components of Land-CRAFT.You will be part of a research environment focusing on integrating multi-source data and developing novel algorithms to address the challenges posed by global environmental change. You will focus on integrating experiments, field observations, and remote sensing data to assess the impact of global change on ecosystem productivity and sustainability. You will develop novel algorithms to integrate data-driven machine learning and process-based models for predicting ecosystem variables such as greenhouse gas fluxes. The research project will primarily target large-scale ecosystem analysis across the EU or the world.We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will take part in our teaching activities and that you will report research results in high-impact scientific journals.Your profile We are searching for a highly motivated candidate who has

• A PhD in ecology, environmental science, remote sensing, data science or similar
• Collaborative skills and ability to engage in teams
• A fondness of taking the initiative and the motivation to pursue a scientific career
• Documented experience in scientific writing and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
• Research experience in some of the areas of large-scale greenhouse gas budget quantification, global meta-analysis.

Further, we will prefer candidates with some of the following qualifications:
Extensive experience in programming using Python, R, or other languages

• Research experience in greenhouse gases, or ecological experiments
• Insight into global environmental changes, and ecosystem sustainability
• Experience with machine learning, or process-based models
• Teaching and supervision experience
