Postdoc in System resilience by synthetic carbonaceous fuels – DTU Wind

Job Description:Do you hold a PhD in macro-energy system modelling? Do you want to investigate how synthetic fuels could contribute to system resilience? Then the best opportunity is in front of you. Apply and join our research group at DTU Wind and Energy Systems and be part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center!As the power system transitions towards high penetration of wind and solar and electrification of other sectors enables their decarbonization, new challenges to ensure the system resilience appear. Synthetic carbonaceous fuels produced by Power-to-X are key to abate emissions in the aviation, shipping and industry sectors, but they are also easy to store and could play a prominent role in ensuring system resilience. This project will use the open large-scale energy system PyPSA-Eur to evaluate the role of carbonaceous fuels in providing resilience at a European scale.Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within computational modeling of highly renewable energy systems and carbon management in such systems. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
