Hanken is also recognized for its research quality, its international orientation, and its focus on sustainability.Hanken School of Economics invites applications for a tenured Professorship in disaster management and resilience OR a Professorship in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) reporting. The successful candidate will receive generous funding to relocate and/or hire members of a research team (post docs and doctoral researchers) and other research costs for a five-year period. The position is based on the Helsinki campus.– Professor in disaster management and resilienceRecent developments in disaster management and humanitarian aid have led to a Humanitarian Reset affecting research as well as practice. This necessitates a different approach to disaster management, rethinking policies and priorities, and redesigning effective and equitable humanitarian aid, optimising the supply chains for their delivery. Relevant research areas for this professorship are emergency management, disaster management, disaster resilience, humanitarian aid, and humanitarian operations, and research questions affected by the humanitarian reset.Hanken is globally recognised for its research in humanitarian logistics and supply chain management, working with aid agencies and humanitarian organisations worldwide. The HUMLOG Institute is the largest of its kind in the world, serving as a global knowledge hub. If the position is filled in the area of disaster management and resilience, the recruited professor and their team will strengthen Hankens research area COMPASS (Comprehensive Security with Partnered Supply and Sustainability).– Professor in sustainability reportingHankens research profile in sustainability reporting brings together researchers across two departments (the Department of Accounting and Commercial Law, and the Department of Finance and Economics) and two competence centres: the Hanken Centre for Accounting, Finance and Governance (Hanken AFG), and the Wallenberg Centre for Financial Research (WCEFIR).Relevant research areas for this professorship are sustainability reporting, and especially ESG reporting, including also aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) considerations in corporate governance. Hanken is not only renowned for sustainability reporting research but also for its access to databases that are relevant for research on ESG reporting.About the position at HankenAcademic staff at Hanken are expected to carry out and supervise scientific research, provide high quality academic teaching, closely follow the advances of their field, and participate in service to Hanken, the academic community, and society. During the academic year, it is expected that a minimum average of three days per week is spent at the office to actively contribute to the research and teaching environment. Hanken expects full-time academic employees to reside and work in Finland.The salary of the professorship is based on the university salary system in Finland (includes employee healthcare as well as pension and holiday contributions). The exact salary level depends on the recruited individuals qualifications and performance.Hanken is an internationally oriented university with extensive experience in welcoming foreign faculty.
