Job Description :Are you passionate about innovation, renewable energy, and multidisciplinary research? We are looking for an enthusiastic R&D Project Engineer to join a leading innovation program supporting the onshore and offshore wind energy value chain in Belgium and beyond.
You’ll be working at the forefront of industrial and research-driven projects, contributing to the development of technologies that drive the energy transition. This includes coordinating national and international R&D projects, testing new solutions, and collaborating with industry leaders and academic partners.
Your Responsibilities

  • Take technical leadership in new and ongoing R&D projects or specific work packages within the wind energy domain.
  • Propose and develop your own ideas or follow up on industrial needs within the context of funded or commercial research projects.
  • Contribute to writing and submitting project proposals and funding applications.
  • Lead concept development and translate it into practical implementation, in collaboration with internal experts and external knowledge partners.
  • Act as technical project manager, managing deadlines, milestones, meetings, and reporting.
  • Present project outcomes to partners and share knowledge at relevant events and conferences.
  • Support and collaborate with the testing and measurement team, both in laboratory settings (e.g., climate chambers) and on-site at wind farms.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate sensor systems and data acquisition setups; perform data analysis and reporting.
  • Build up a technology- and industry-driven program, staying on top of trends, exploring business cases, and identifying new infrastructure investment needs.
  • Work in close collaboration with experts from fields such as materials science, mechatronics, ICT, and data analytics to support innovation in the wind sector. Required qualifications :
  • Master’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy, or a related field.
  • Preferably 5-6 years of experience in the (offshore) wind energy sector or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong technical insight and a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
  • Comfortable with contributing to proposal writing and client interaction.
  • Fluent in English; any knowledge on Dutch, French or German will be considered a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within Belgium for project coordination and site work.
