We are looking for a R&D Project Manager at ABB Oy, Marine and Ports in Vuosaari, Helsinki, Finland. In this position, you will develop and create solutions, products and technologies by leading and managing the execution of Marine Propulsion R&D projects.Azipod® propulsion is a gearless steerable propulsion system where the electric drive motor is in a submerged pod outside the ship hull. Azipod® units can rotate 360 degrees to increase maneuverability and operating efficiency. We offer the possibility to work with and develop state-of-the-art technology and lead the way for successful business in a truly global environment.We have a hybrid working model.This position reports to Manager, R&D Project Management.You will be mainly accountable for:
– Taking overall responsibility and lead assigned projects, including project execution and control, managing uncertainties and risks, and ensuring effective collaboration and stakeholder communication
– Leading and guiding project teams to ensure targets are met, working closely with specialists from various fields, business management, steering groups, product management, and external parties
– Delivering high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that meet business requirements throughout the product lifecycle
– Proactively seeking and implementing initiatives to improve way of working and increasing customer satisfactionQualifications for the role:
– M.Sc. in a relevant fields such as Mechanical or Offshore Engineering, Naval Architect or similar
– Experience in the marine industry and previous experience working on customer projects as a Project Manager
– Good project planning, risk management and leadership skills
– A solution-focused approach in a sometimes pressurized environment
– Social team player with excellent interpersonal skills
– Fluent spoken and written English is required, Finnish is an advantageMore about us:
