Nasdaq is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the Market Surveillance function in Helsinki.The Surveillance organization monitors issuers’ and trading participants’ compliance with the Exchange rules and other relevant regulations. As a regulatory function being responsible for enforcement, it is crucial that we possess excellent knowledge and understanding on the regulations and related practices that applies to listed companies and always act with the highest level of integrity. Our common goal is to ensure investor protection and that the market’s confidence in Nasdaq, our markets and the securities market in general is maintained.With this position we offerThis is an exciting opportunity for you to be at the heart of the financial markets playing an important role in ensuring confidence in our markets are maintained. You will be working with a wide variety of tasks ranging from handling the application process for admission to trading all product types on our markets, to supervising the issuer’s ongoing compliance focused on the disclosure obligations.   • Researches newswires for material news affecting listed companies and for potential trading halts.
  • Completes regulatory referrals as appropriate to market regulation entity.
  • Analyzes trading activity for market participant compliance with relevant trading rules and regulatory compliance, providing summaries and trends to supervisor and/or team.
  • Analyzes disposition of real-time alerts for indications of potentially volatile activity by compiling and organizing information from a variety of sources including, internal data and phone interviews with market participants, listed companies and others.
  • Conducts real-time surveillance of activity on the company’s securities markets to maintain an orderly marketplace and level playing field for investors, market participants and listed companies, providing anomalies to supervisor.
  • Researches regulatory filings, other disclosures and trading information to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

We expect you to haveMasters of Laws.Some years of meaningful experience – from a law firm, regulator, or other company active in financial services.Basic understanding of financial regulation, trading and investments.Excellent language skills in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.Strong analytical skills and possess the ability to make quick decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.Be innovative and not afraid to come up with new insightsAbility to understand financial information and handle stressful situations.Be a team player, solution-oriented and a service minded person.What we offerAt Nasdaq, we strive to challenge the status quo and always look for new ways to do things to improve and exceed the collective goals of our teams, company, and customers.
