Do you want to contribute to groundbreaking research with a direct impact on patients’ diagnosis and medical treatment?The Department of Clinical Genetics at Rigshospitalet invites applications for a 1-year position as a Research Assistant in molecular genetics, with the possibility of transitioning into a 3-year PhD position. This exciting opportunity is offered in collaboration with Department of Clinical Genetics, Odense University Hospital and Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), Copenhagen University. The successful candidate will be working across these institutions, however mainly in our laboratory in Glostrup or Copenhagen.The position is available from May 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and talented researcher to join our team in developing novel functional and cell-based assays for interpreting germline variants (i.e. mutations) found in patients or healthy individuals to determine if they are cancer-causative or not. Using novel CRISPR/Cas9 technology, which you will take part in developing, and other molecular biological techniques, the research aims to improve the clinical diagnosis of genetic disorders, thereby influencing patient diagnosis, treatment options, and predictive family testing.As a Research Assistant, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to plan a PhD project, preparing for a subsequent funded PhD position.We Offer:

Qualifications and ExpectationsThe ideal candidate:

  • Holds a Master’s degree in science or engineering
  • Specializes in biomedicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Has experience (preferably) in:
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Germline variant analysis
  • CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing
  • Cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
  • Cancer genetics og bioinformatics

Salary and Terms of EmploymentEmployment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).This is a 1-year position with the intention of transitioning into a 3-year PhD fellowship.Application ProcessThe application must be written in English and submitted as a PDF or .docx file, including:
