About the roleLocation: Sweden – StenungsundHours: Full-TimeType of Contract: PermanentMake Science Real!Do you have understanding of developing polymeric materials, polymer thermodynamics, including diffusion properties in relation to electrical properties of HVDC power cables? If so, YOU might be the one we are looking for to join our R&D community.Our R&D is organized into different competence centers spread across three European Innovation Centers. Several hundred scientists, experts, technicians and engineers work together on innovation projects to shape our future products. We know that energy transmission & electrification are the future. Therefore this is of high strategic importance for Borealis. Numerous Energy Scientists and Experts constantly collaborate and share their expertise to push boundaries and make our materials fit for future demands and applications such as HVDC and UHVDC. Lower energy losses, transmitting power over longer distances, higher operating temperatures – there is so much to discover and accomplish, and we hope you are up for the challenge!In more detail, you will:
- Facilitate and coordinate research, technology and application development in line with our innovation objectives, with a specific focus on insulation and semicon materials for HVDC and AC power cables
- Participate in R&D projects, collaborate with different scientists and drive the development of new polymers and compounds within the Energy sector
- Work closely with the lab and testing teams in our inhouse testing facilities
- Connect with our commercial team and contribute your expertise along the whole value chain
- Collaborate with external networks and partners (e.g. academia, conferences, forums)
- Potentially be involved in standardization bodies and certification
- Lead and/or support full IPR coverage of our innovations in close cooperation with Borealis IPR specialists, Patent Portfolio Owners and others
- Follow high scientific and safety standards in your daily work
About you
- PhD or Master’s degree in Polymer Science/Engineering, Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry, High Voltage engineering or similar
- Proven experience in testing and polymer properties for HVDC power cable applications, acquired over many years in the industry
- Written and spoken communication skills in English
