SUSTAIN combines expertise in environmental sciences, circular economy, risk and safety assessment, and sustainable innovation to address complex challenges related to human and environmental health, climate change, and resource efficiency.You will join the Environmental Health group within the SUSTAIN Unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). At SUSTAIN, we are dedicated to advancing sustainability science through interdisciplinary research and innovation aimed at safeguarding human and environmental health in the face of emerging challenges.The Environmental Health group conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of environmental toxicology, human health, and regulatory science. Our mission is to understand the impact of environmental stressors-including chemicals, pollutants, and complex mixtures-on human health and ecosystems, using innovative experimental and computational approaches.Our multidisciplinary team integrates expertise in in vitro toxicology, molecular biology, systems toxicology, exposure science, and risk assessment to develop next-generation tools and models that inform decision-making and support the development of safe and sustainable products and policies. Our RDI activities span the full spectrum of innovation, from fundamental research to applied solutions, regulatory frameworks, and policy support.In collaboration with public authorities, industry stakeholders, and international research partners, we deliver high-impact knowledge and practical tools to address pressing environmental and health-related challenges.By joining us, you will contribute to shaping a healthier and more sustainable future through science-based innovation.How will you contribute?Your responsibilities will include:· Defining the group’s strategy in the field of development of in vitro New Approach Methodologies for human hazard and safety assessment.· Implementing this strategy and contribute/lead the unit’s activities in human safety and in Safe and Sustainable by design approach.· Liaising with relevant academic/industry/institutional partners (regulatory agencies, chemical industry, CROs, pharmaceutical industry, etc.)· Defining, elaborating and testing novel scientific and technological concepts for in vitro NAMs and, more in general, for Next Generation Safety Assessment (NGRA) approaches.· Defining and leading new projects in this field, including writing and submitting proposals for competitive funding and collaborating with industrial/institutional partners.· Actively collaborating with other researchers to promote interdisciplinary activities internally and externally.· Mentoring PhD students participating in these projects.· Disseminating, valorising and transferring RDI results (patents, licenses, prototypes, publications, technical reports, participation in conferences, etc.).· Reporting to the Group Leader.Is Your profile described below?
