The Environmental Impact section is one of four units within the Environmental Department at Akvaplan-niva. The section’s employees focus on research and advisory services related to the effects of different human activities on the environment and socio-ecological systems. Our goal is to provide research-based advice that supports sustainable management trough informed decision-making, balancing scientific, technological, and societal considerations.Here, you will manage a group of strong and creative professional scientists in a work environment that encourages new ideas and high flexibility. • Lead a team of experts in developing projects that promote environmentally friendly solutions.
• Contribute to company strategy as a member of our extended management team.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage and facilitate the professional and personal development of the section’s staff.
• Lead and develop the section with a focus on quality, efficiency, and financial performance.
• Contribute to securing project funding.
• Monitor and analyze trends in environmental impact, adapting the section’s work to the evolving needs of the public and private sectors.
• Represent the organization in relevant forums and build networks with research institutions, clients, authorities, and other partners nationally and internationally.
• Participate in research and advisory projects relevant to your expertise.

Qualifications

• Higher education in marine biology, ecology, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, or other relevant fields. A PhD is an advantage, but relevant work experience can compensate.
• Experience in leadership and project management, preferably within research or advisory services.
• Solid understanding of environmental challenges and the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Strong relationship-building skills and an ability to work across disciplines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Norwegian is an advantage.
