If you’re excited about driving machine learning projects to enhance network efficiency, flight operations, and customer experience, this role is for you!About the TeamSAS is dedicated to a true digital journey, leveraging data and advanced analytics to build the foundation for the future of aviation.We are a central machine learning team that collaborates closely with stakeholders across various business units, identifying business challenges and opportunities that can be addressed through advanced analytics.We work with diverse machine learning projects, collaborate and contribute to the machine learning practice to ensure that we have a solid foundation for SAS to scale and fully harness the potential of machine learning.With our collaborations expanding, we’re looking to secure future success by bringing in an experienced Data Scientist to enhance our team further.Senior Data ScientistIn this role, you’ll be engaging in diverse machine learning projects and communicating insights and recommendations to business stakeholders.You will contribute to machine learning practice and data-driven business to ensure a solid foundation for SAS to scale and realize the full potential of machine learning. As a key enabler in the team, you’ll also be involved in tool & infrastructure decisions, collaborate with other teams to utilize synergy effects and ensure best practices in data and cloud infrastructure.Your primary responsibilities will include translating business questions into analytical requirements and actionable data science use cases, developing machine learning models, and applying innovative analytical approaches to drive business value. As well as guiding our practices and provide mentorship for less experienced data scientists.You’ll use advanced analytical techniques to provide fresh perspectives on problem-solving, enhance our data-driven strategies, and unlock the full potential of machine learning. Your passion for data and algorithms will thrive in our dynamic, rapidly evolving digital environment, where your curiosity and enthusiasm will solve complex issues and inspire others.Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the various business divisions within SAS to identify and translate high-level business needs into defined data science projects
• Own end-to-end ML projects from ideation to production, working with modern cloud infrastructure and MLOps practices
• Support in continuous improvement of methodologies and standards within our Data Science practice
• Present data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to business stakeholders
• Contribute to innovation within the company by exploring new ways to leverage on ML and data
• Mentor and Influence: Guide junior data scientists and advocate for ML best practices across the organization
• Horizon scan to stay up to date with the latest technology, algorithms, and methods

To be successful, we believe you should have:

• Master’s Degree or higher with strong mathematics focus (Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, Optimization, Computer Science) or related field.
• At least 5 years of industry experience within Data science domain
• Proven record of taking on loosely defined problems and translating into practical application
• More than 5 years’ experience with Python, SQL and popular machine/deep learning libraries
• Proficient with statistical- and machine learning models (both supervised learning and unsupervised learning)
• Well-versed in cloud computing, prior experience with Azure is a big plus
• Excellent communication skills
