The Surface devices team is seeking qualified candidates for a display system engineering position to develop the next generation display subsystem including display module, backlight driving, optical sensors and processing algorithms. You will play an active role in innovating and implementing the latest display technologies in Surface products. Responsibilities include display system architecture design (EE/SW), technology development through mass production, system interfacing at HW and SW levels, troubleshooting, root-cause failure analysis, collaboration with suppliers, process optimization and managing quality, along with proactive engagement with multiple Microsoft cross-functional teams.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.Responsibilities:You will provide critical subject matter expertise on display technology development on OLEDs and LCDs including design and integration of HW / SW / FW. You will collect and analyze test data and drive the appropriate solutions, including required trade-offs and design changes, all in the context of business priorities.You will work with the Surface team to develop technology roadmaps, perform component cost/feature evaluations, and drive competitive benchmarking activities. The position involves working closely with system, electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and design verification engineers, and program managers. Development activities may include Display SW and HW feature development from early prototyping to productization, display driver and firmware trouble shooting and root cause analysis, and SW tools for automated display verification and data analysis.Qualifications:Required Qualifications

  • Degree in display engineering, CS, EE, ME, physics, materials science, optics, or related field.
  • Proven display subject matter expertise in several areas of display technology, including one or more of the following: display integration of OLED/ LCD panels and their optical/ mechanical/ electrical / visual performance, testing or experience and deep technical knowledge in display ICs, sensors and corresponding circuitry development for computing devices.
  • Strong track-record of delivering products with extensive experience in display system design, SW and FW development, performance characterization, manufacturing process and test.
  • Basic understanding of color science and optical measurement devices (colorimeters, spectrometers, photodiodes) and hands on skills in hardware testing.
  • Programming skills and test platform automation (C#, Powershell, C++).
  • Excellent analytical skills, hands on problem solving, testing, and trouble-shooting hardware/software.
  • High degree of flexibility—willing to fill in the gaps and being self-sufficient when necessary.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and passionate about technology and product-making.
  • Strong communication skills to manage cross-disciplinary discussions across diverse cultures with clarity and positivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree MS, PhD, in technical discipline
  • Experience in display systems integration in the consumer electronics industry, especially in graphics pipeline and FW/SW integration.
  • Experience in electrical and optical design and integration display systems into consumer electronics.
  • Proven capability to define successful product specifications, measurements procedures, and reports which drive product decisions.
