You will be a key part of building the next iteration of WhiteAway Group’s webshops to be the most performant and scalable webshops in Denmark.For our client WhiteAway Group, we are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to their tech team in Aarhus. They are converting the ageing systems to a stack based on React, NextJS and NodeJS – all hosted in AWS.
WhiteAway Group sells and ships household appliances to customers across Scandinavia, with a continued focus on great customer experiences. Since the beginning, the company has taken a fresh approach to the market with a strong digital mindset. This has resulted in strong growth – and they continue to have ambitious goals.
Your team
You’ll join WhiteAway Group’s Tech Development department, reporting to the Director of Tech Development. The tech team consists of 40 colleagues, including 20 engineers distributed across 6 autonomous squads. Each squad is cross-functional, working closely with UX designers, data scientists and software architects to own and drive missions.
The team is truly passionate about building the right solutions – always focused on what is best for the business. They invest in their craft through training, professional sparring via pair programming and regular hackathons. The team works in a hypothesis-driven way: they test, adapt and find better ways to build great software. Engineers are empowered to make decisions within their squads.
The job is about

• Building high-performance frontends using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Participating in system architecture and design discussions
• Using hypothesis-driven development to determine how to achieve the best outcomes and fulfil the squad’s mission
• Deploying daily using a modern CI/CD pipeline, leveraging both Vercel for frontend delivery and AWS for backend infrastructure and services
• Mentoring junior engineers and leading by example
• Contributing to the design system and exploring micro-frontend architecture

Your background
You probably have experience in the following technologies and tasks:

• A strong background in React
• Some experience with NodeJS
• A natural flair for coaching junior developers
• Ability to lead larger coding initiatives and take ownership of features and metrics

It’s a plus if you’ve worked with one or more of the following:

• Design systems and Micro frontends
• Experience with frameworks like NextJS, Remix or Gatsby
• AWS and CircleCI
