Are you a driven scientist with deep expertise in molecular biology and a passion for automation and innovation? AstraZeneca is now looking for a Senior Scientist for a consulting assignment within the Automation & Assays team at their vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg. You will be part of the Early Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (Early CVRM) unit, contributing to world-class research that transforms scientific ideas into life-changing medicines.The Automation & Assays team leverages advanced automation platforms for molecular biology assays, enabling the generation of high-quality data to understand pharmacological responses and mechanisms of action across multiple therapeutic areas.About the position
In this role, you will play a leading part in processing tissue samples using cell surface protein enrichment techniques for proteomics, supporting drug discovery and model development. You will also contribute to developing and optimizing automated sample preparation methods and actively collaborate with stakeholders across AstraZeneca functions.Key responsibilities include

• Independent planning and execution of experiments using advanced automated platforms
• Sample preparation for proteomic analysis with cell surface protein enrichment techniques
• Troubleshooting and timely reporting and presentation of scientific data
• Contributing to assay and model development for biomarker analysis and mechanistic studies
• Driving scientific excellence and continuous improvement within the team
• Collaborating across functions within Early CVRM and supporting cross-disciplinary projects

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline or Master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience
• Background in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or similar field
• Extensive hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, especially protein assays and sample preparation
• Proven ability to independently design studies, analyze data, and deliver results
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

We are looking for someone who brings added value through experience in processing biological samples for proteomics and has a solid understanding of proteomic workflows and technologies. You may have a background in assay development and method optimization, and ideally, experience working with laboratory automation systems such as robotic liquid handlers.An innovative mindset, with a strong drive for scientific and technical advancement, is highly appreciated. Previous experience from the pharmaceutical industry is considered an asset, as is a track record of scientific visibility through publications, patents, or significant project contributions. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to colleagues is also of great value in this role.Qualifications
