As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work – both in and out of the office.We’re now seeking a Senior or Staff Biomedical Engineer with deep expertise in PPG (photoplethysmography), spectroscopy, and sensor technology to join our Future Physiology team. This is a key role for an experienced and technically curious engineer who’s ready to drive the future of health sensing at Oura.Location: Finland, we have offices in Helsinki and OuluWhat You will do:

  • Lead the development, testing, and validation of physiological sensing methods across hardware platforms and build advanced signal processing pipelines tailored for real world wearable data and physiological metrics.
  • Design and execute biosignal experiments with a rapid iteration cycle and turn noisy datasets into actionable insights.
  • Translate experimental results into productizable solutions, with a focus on physiological relevance and generalizability
  • Collaborate with hardware and sensor design teams-an understanding of optics and electronics design is highly appreciated in this role.
  • Mentor junior team members and shape best practices in biosignal R&D.
  • Influence sensor roadmap and strategic decision-making through data-driven insight and deep physiological knowledge.

We would love to have You on our team, if You have:

  • Bring 5+ years of experience in biosignal processing, particularly with PPG and spectroscopy.
  • Have a proven track record of delivering research to production-from prototyping to deployment.
  • Possess strong programming skills in Python and experience working with real world physiological datasets.
  • Hold an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field-or equivalent practical experience.
  • Combine deep physiological understanding with engineering intuition to create scalable and robust metrics.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, exploratory environments, embracing iteration and ambiguity as opportunities.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently across teams and stakeholders-technical and non-technical alike.
