Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically accomplished Senior Staff Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team focused on Hip Stem and Acetabular Cup production. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role, offering exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing disciplines such as automation, robotics, thermal coatings, automated inspection, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence.Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across complex manufacturing processes, delivering innovative solutions that enhance product quality and operational performance.
• Build deep technical knowledge of best practices within the medical device industry, leveraging internal expertise and external networks including academic, divisional, and supplier partnerships.

• Drive a culture of high engagement and continuous development by mentoring and supporting a team of engineers through structured technical guidance.
• Lead root cause analysis and the development of robust solutions to technical challenges across automated and manual processes.
• Own system-level design strategy and oversee the design, development, testing, and refinement of manufacturing systems, sub-systems, and components.
• Identify and implement process improvements and procedural changes to support operational excellence and compliance.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing direction and mentorship to engineering teams while collaborating cross-functionally to support business goals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Level 8 Honours Degree in an Engineering discipline.
• 6 plus years manufacturing experience with increasing levels of responsibility
• Advanced qualifications highly desirable (Master’s, PhD, or Six Sigma Black Belt).
• Proven experience in thermal spray coatings, deposition technologies, or materials science is a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional engineering teams within high-tech or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, results-driven setting.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
