Ready to launch your economic diplomacy career and join us at the forefront of Europe’s space tech ecosystem?The British Embassy Copenhagen is looking to recruit a new colleague to join Scotland’s trade and inward investment agency (SDI) and lead on Scotland’s commercial activities in Advanced Technologies.From leading Europe’s small satellite manufacturing to establishing next-generation spaceports in the High North, Scotland has emerged as a powerhouse in space innovation. We’re seeking an ambitious professional to help shape this growing sector and work with other advanced technologies that Scotland leads in.Based at the British Embassy Copenhagen and working closely with other UK departments, you will also be responsible for strengthening partnerships with Nordic stakeholders to help Scottish companies to internationalise.What makes this role unique?

  • Provide expert support and advice to Scottish companies wishing to enter the Nordic markets within advanced technologies with a key focus on space, finance and climate.
  • Build strategic relationships with Nordic organisations, private / public, that increase Scottish exports by identifying trade opportunities.
  • Lead on the development of innovation partnerships and networks with Nordic stakeholders such as incubators, clusters, academia and industry bodies.
  • Deliver against Scottish international trade strategies and advance Scotland as a centre for technology innovation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the UK Government as well as Nordic government departments, agencies
  • Facilitate key events and activities which support Scottish trade work in the Nordics including webinars, conferences, roadshows, trade missions, Ministerial visits, virtual or otherwise.
  • Support Scottish Government activity in the region as well as Scottish and UK Ministerial visits.

Essential qualifications, skills and experienceOur ideal candidate shows:

  • Knowledge of Nordic tech and corporate ecosystems.
  • An experienced networker with existing corporate relationships in the Nordics
  • A fast learner who can demonstrate initiative, resilience, and adaptability.
  • A team player with a consultative approach who can collaborate within a geography and virtually.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Danish (minimum C1 level*).

Desirable qualifications, skills and experienceNice to have:

  • An understanding of government, policy and the role it plays in international trade.
  • Experience of working in an international trade promotion environment.
  • Experience of public speaking and an ability to demonstrate credibility and expertise on complex issues.

  • This is a full-time, permanent contract, subject to a 3-month probation period;
  • 35-hours working week with a focus on work-life balance, this role is primarily office-based. Flexible working of 1-2 days may be possible, subject to line manager agreement. The job holder will be expected to travel 10-20 days/year.
