Our life-saving systems, which we develop and manufacture in Zurich, are used for acute and long-term therapy in patients with severe heart diseases.Our location in the city of Zurich has around 130 employees in the areas of development and production of the Centri MagTM system and the HeartMate 3TM motor.(Sr) Industrial Engineer, Continuous ImprovementThe open position is mainly on-site in Zurich, reporting to the Manager Manufacturing & Operational Excellence and it is continuously improving efficiencies on direct labor side and in operations support to reduce product cost and enhance quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of leadership, project management, and change management skills, coupled with a deep understanding of operational processes and financial acumen across various departments.In This Function You WillLead change to improve business effectiveness based on data analysis.Drive business alignment between operations and quality assurance based on the site’s 5-year roadmap via milestones, goal cascading, communication, and metricsPromote the advancement, training, and the use of Business Excellence and Operational Excellence (BEx/OpEx) principles and practices such as value stream mapping (VSM), standard work, root cause analysis (RCA), problem solving, capacity modeling, and visual management across the site through internal and external collaborations, delivering high impact sustainable business results.Ensure and implement 365-day audit readiness (e.g. Abbott quality management, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485) with cross-functional interactions including manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain.Oversee the cost improvement process (CIP) from ideation to tracking actuals versus the cost saving glide.Challenge the status quo with facts, act as a communicative change agent, and promote a mindset of continuous learning through collaboration, best practice replication, and lessons learnt.Lead and coordinate complex, high-impact projects in alignment with the site leadership team by thinking strategically.Desired ProfileCitizens from the EU/EFTA with a valid work permit or Swiss nationalsBSc / MSc degree in Industrial Engineering, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or related field5+ years in manufacturing operations, quality operations, project management, or continuous improvement functions (2+ years as manufacturing or quality engineer is a plus)Knowledge of non-conformity handling and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)Willing to work in highly regulated environment (experience in MedTech/Pharma is preferred)Proven track record of modern OpEx tools and programs such as lean, six sigma (DMAIC), and statistical analysis to make data-driven decisions and improvements.Lean Six Sigma Green certification or equivalent is a must (Black Belt certification is a plus)Strong MS office skills, particularly Excel (Microsoft Power BI and SAP is a plus)Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Fluent in English (written and spoken), German would be an assetWorking at AbbottAt Abbott, you can do work that matters and help people to live a healthier and fuller life, grow your career, and learn, be your true self.
