Job description
As a Staff Data Engineer at Trustpilot, you’ll be accountable for optimizing the backbone of our data ecosystem. From putting key data governance processes in place, leading the design and development of performant data infrastructure, identifying improvement opportunities for existing pipelines, or helping integrate trusted data with varied systems (ETLs and reverse ETLs) – your skills will contribute to the growth of our innovative team and pave the way for future innovations.What you’ll be doing:
- Act as a technical bar-raiser for the processing of data; raising the bar for software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and analytics engineers.
- Design long-term data processing architecture – including data models and tools leveraged to realize our ambitions.
- Contribute expertise to develop our data management strategies and facilitate their integration with team tasks.
- Design and implement reliable, consistent, scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines – defining our ‘paved paths’ as a result.
- Support the identification and approach to optimizing existing data processing to minimize wastage (compute and spend) and improve data quality.
- Drive data ownership and accountability across engineering teams.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve and refine data processes continuously.
- Coach and mentor less senior engineers on best practices
Who you are:
- Proven ability to lead technical projects from inception to deployment, including architecture design, implementation, and scaling.
- Deep expertise in software engineering with a focus on data-centric systems.
- In-depth expertise in public cloud (AWS, GCP).
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, etc.
- Comprehensive understanding of data engineering tooling, including but not limited to BigQuery, Kafka, Airflow, Airbyte, and DataHub
- Great stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills.
