Are you a Support Engineer passionate about solving IT challenges and delivering top-notch customer service? We are hiring on behalf of a long-established, well-regarded IT services provider based in Carlow. With a strong regional reputation and a broad client base across multiple sectors, this is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable, client-focused support engineer to join a growing team.The RoleYou’ll be working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with occasional flexibility required to meet client demands. While the role is based at the company’s Carlow office, it will also involve regular visits to client sites in the surrounding area, so a full driving licence is essential. This position sits between Level 2 and Level 3 support and will suit someone with a solid grounding in cloud platforms (particularly Azure), a good understanding of modern IT
infrastructures, and the versatility to handle a range of user and system issues across various business environments.Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for clients across a wide range of systems, applications, and networks.
- Troubleshoot issues related to Azure, Microsoft 365, cloud applications, and general IT infrastructure.
- Manage escalations from Level 1 and resolve more complex support tickets.
- Carry out client site visits for troubleshooting, installations, upgrades, and support.
- Document solutions, maintain internal records, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team on service improvement and project delivery.
Requirements
- 2–5 years in an IT support role, ideally bridging L2 and L3 responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, cloud-hosted applications, and Windows-based environments.
- Solid understanding of networking, virtualisation, hardware, and general systems support.
- Excellent communication skills – calm, tactful, and confident in dealing with clients at all levels.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile when needed.
- Full, clean driving EU licence.
- Comfortable with both office-based and on-site client work in the Carlow region.
Nice to Have
- Certifications such as AZ-104, MS-900, CompTIA Network+ or similar.
- Experience with security protocols, firewalls, or endpoint protection tools.
- Exposure to SME environments with diverse client needs.
