Overview:We are looking for a motivated and experienced Air Freight Team Leader Life Sciences to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will oversee air freight operations, ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods with a particular focus on pharmaceutical products. You will ensure full compliance with industry regulations and provide outstanding customer service. This position requires strong leadership, team management skills, and a deep understanding of air freight processes, especially in the context of pharmaceutical logistics. Experience with GDP (Good Distribution Practice) guidelines is essential, as you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the highest standards for handling pharmaceutical shipments. You will serve as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and driving continuous improvements. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily air freight operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, GDP guidelines, and company policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of air freight coordinators, offering guidance and training as needed.
  • Monitor and manage air freight shipments, ensuring accurate and timely delivery, with a strong focus on the specific requirements of pharmaceutical transport.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure smooth shipment handling, particularly for temperature-sensitive and regulated products.
  • Streamline operational processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Handle escalations, resolve operational issues, and manage exceptions throughout the shipping process.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, international shipping standards, and GDP guidelines.
  • Collaborate with departments such as customer service, sales, and warehousing to ensure the safe and compliant handling of pharmaceutical goods.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor team performance and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, clients, and partners to ensure top-quality service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve air freight services, particularly within the pharmaceutical logistics sector, aligning them with overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in air freight logistics, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations, international trade, customs procedures, and pharmaceutical transport.
  • Experience handling pharmaceutical shipments and a solid understanding of GDP (Good Distribution Practice) guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on motivating and developing team members.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, CargoWise).
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations related to air freight and pharmaceutical logistics.
  • A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken; additional language skills are a plus.
