Then sign up for the Danish Refugee Council’s Volunteer Advice Service in Aarhus.Danish Refugee Council’s volunteer counselingThe Danish Refugee Council is currently looking for professionally qualified volunteer counselors with a legal or social work background for our Volunteer Counseling Center in Aarhus.In the counseling center, refugees and immigrants can receive anonymous, impartial and interdisciplinary advice on, for example, family reunification, residence permits, social rules and other legal issues, help in understanding letters from authorities and in tackling difficult concerns in life.What do we expect from you as an advisor?
As a counselor, you must be able to listen actively, identify options for action, and show empathy and a basic respect for other people. You can have different backgrounds, e.g. as a lawyer, social worker or other, and you can also be a student in a relevant education. Knowledge of the Immigration Act and integration law regulations is an advantage, but not a requirement.
It is important that you have the desire and energy to provide advice in interdisciplinary collaboration with other volunteer advisors, and that you will take responsibility for learning the relevant workflows.Where and when? Olof Palmes Allé 35 – 8200 Århus N. As an advisor, you will be required to work two to three hours of consulting time every Tuesday with follow-up case processing time when necessary. In addition, you must be prepared to participate in a number of mandatory introductory courses that will be held in the spring in connection with your start-up, as well as ongoing advanced training courses in relevant legislation and joint meetings in the advisory service.What can we offer you?
