The intention of this work is to:

  • Make a LCA from cradle to gate on a scooptram or minetruck.
  • Investigate where can we improve and reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Investigate on which part category can we see the largest CO2 emission.
  • Formulate strategies that can reduce the overall carbon footprint of mining equipment.

These are proposed questions and may be changed in agreement with supervisor and/or mentor.Background:
A life cycle assessment (LCA) provides a detailed analysis of the environmental impacts of mining equipment throughout its life cycle, from manufacturing to disposal, with a focus on identifying CO2 emission and reduction opportunities. We have a target to half our CO2 emissions to 2030 so we need to investigate a LCA and the outcome of it.Mission:Your mission will be to support our CO2 emission roadmap by collecting data on choice of material,
material extraction and manufacturing processes, operation. Model and analyze the data, identifying
major emission sources with LCA software (using LCA for Experts) and to evaluate and develop a
method to improve the emission reduction for each life system stage up to our gate. Recommendations for sustainable equipment management and design improvements.Qualification:
We are looking for applicants with a knowledge about mechanics and sustainability. Knowledge in Creo and teamcenter is meritorious and LCA for Expert is needed.How to apply:
